Networking within Berlin

Berlin is a centre for development cooperation that is characterised by a multidude of non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Around 180 organisations, registered associations, local work groups, networks and initiatives are located in Berlin. Furthermore, numerous embassies, political foundations and national as well as international institutions and marketing boards can be added to this list.

For this reason networking in Berlin stretches far beyond our own member organisations. We work closely with universities, political foundations or parties, initiatives and other institutions and thereby try to strengthen the political field of development politics in the state of Berlin.

Werkstatt der Kulturen

The „Werkstatt der Kulturen“ is a meeting point for people of different nationalities, cultures and religions and is supported by the senate of Berlin. The Werkstatt der Kulturen provides space, technical equipment and an advisory service for social, political and cultural events to artists, associations and initiatives of all nationalities. It perceives itself as a platform of multicultural civil society and also develops its own projects, focusing on world music. Its work reflects art and culture in the age of migration and globalisation. The program ranges from small workshops to mega events such as the Carnival of Cultures and the nationwide contest “Creole – Weltmusik aus Deutschland” (world music from Germany).
